In 2011 we purchased our first pair of Orpingtons, a blue pullet and a splash cockerel. Still today we have our blue hen who started the chicken hobby. We have had many breeds and nothing compared to the calm nature of these fluffy girls. Our plans is to keep breeding Orpingtons in the buff, blue, and lavander varieties as well as adding a few other colors in the program.
Orpingtons are good layers of nice khaki colored to light brown eggs. They're very plump, weight about 8-10 lbs, and make nice tabel birds even though they have more white colored skin. They're also ideal for the backyard flock because of the natral gentle disposition and they dont mind being confined.
